Effective Prayer (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Manjohn and Christina Wong, Netherlands (Silk Road)
Praise God for a great turn-out at the vision-sharing meeting to promote the formation of a Christian Centre for Gambling Rehabilitation in Holland. Almost all of their invited guests came, and they unanimously agreed that there is a great need for this ministry. Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for God' continued wisdom and guidance as they strive to move ahead with ministry of a Christian Centre for Gambling Rehabilitation.
  2. Pray for the summer camp (July 14-18) where 83 people have already registered and most are non-believers. Pray for Pastor Daniel and the 4 members of OCAC who will preach and lead at the Camp.
  3. Pray for God's guidance as Manjohn and Christina will no longer be able to stay in Amsterdam after August this year because of the enforcement of the visa requirements.
Stephen and Annette (Silk Road)
Stephen and Annette are scheduled to depart Canada on Jul 22. The MK school which they have been involved with has asked Stephen to work part-time as its Development Officer, and Annette has been asked to run a home daycare for teacher’s children.  Prayer requests:
  1. Please pray for the issue of their letters of invitation to obtain their visas to be completed in the next few days.
  2. Please pray that they will find good affordable housing quickly for themselves and a house for the newly appointed couple who will be joining them on the field one week later.
Derek & Bonnie Burnett, Thailand
Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for strength and wisdom for Derek as he trains teammate Leok Har Chan to cover his position until Larry and Nancy Persons return from home assignment in U.S to take over the position.
  2. Pray for the Saw Saw Paw centres as Derek and Bonnie are away on home assignment. Pray that the Lord will meet the students mightily as they study His Word and that they will be moved t o be more like Christ and to have a deep burden for others.
Bill and Ilana Lobbezoo, Cambodia
Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for good health, energy and clear minds as Bill and Ilana juggle the responsibilities of hosting short term teams, running English camps, organizing Field Forum, checking in on language students, and caring for their family during the summer months.
  2. Pray that lives will be touched and changed through interaction with the short-term teams.
Joseph and Helen Lee, Guatemala
Praise God for a wonderful Easter Church Retreat. Many were challenged to take specific steps of obedience in their walk with Christ. One of two non-Christian girls accepted Christ, and they both continue to attend the young people’s group.

Gerald and Dorothy Hogenbirk (Silk Road)
Prayer requests:
  • Please pray for wisdom and guidance for Gerald and Dorothy as they make decisions, as Canadian Regional Developers for Europe, on how best to proceed with the new visa requirements in Holland. The new visa situation specifically affects Anne Louie and Manjohn and Christina Wong.
John and Lorraine Young, Spain
Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for their return to Taiwan for John’s father’s funeral. John plans to officiate the service as he and his father are the only two believers in the family at the moment. Pray that it will be a special time of remembering his father and an avenue to share the gospel with his unbelieving relatives.
  2. Pray for the Spain work/resident visas to be granted in time for their mid-July return from home assignment.
  3. Please pray that God will equip them with the new vision and empower them with gifts and strength for the next term in Madrid ministry. Also pray for mature leaders to be raised up within the church.
  4. Pray for the search of a new apartment in Madrid city, that will be close to the church and ministry points, but also convenient enough for daily commute to their daughters’ school in the suburb.
Anne Stephens, Congo
Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for the General Assembly in Congo to be held this Aug. Pray that a man after God’s own heart will be elected as the new president.
  2. Pray for the College of Prayer that will start in Pointe Noire (Jul 26-29), in Kinshasa (Aug 2-4) and in Brazzaville (Aug 5-7). Pray for Joel Kangas and the teams. Pray that God will transform all of them and lead them into a deeper relationship with Him through their time of prayer together.

Lois Belsey, Indonesia

Praise God that Lois was able to finish translating the Aids booklet in Moni.

Joseph and Liza Ng, Cambodia
After 3 months of home assignment in Hong Kong, they have arrived back in Phnom Penh. God is faithful that they have found a house just 5 min walk to their church despite the higher and higher rental cost in the capital and areas around. They got the approval and blessings from their mission board to purchase and build the church property.
Prayer requests:
  1. Get to know and outreach to their neighbours.
  2. That the church building goes smoothly.
  3. The spiritual growth of their members.
  4. The fund needed for their church building.
  5. More missionaries and national workers.
