Women's Ministries Prayer Items Feb 2010

[Current month]

Effective Prayer (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Anne Louie, the Netherlands
She praised God for answering prayers for a great turnout (70 people) at the Christmas outreach event and one third was non-Christians.  Wing and Ann Sung from Ottawa Chinese Alliance Church will go there for a two-week short term mission (from February 26 to March 15).
Please pray:
  • For God’s enabling power to Wing and Ann and that He will use them to bless many Mandarin speaking Chinese in Amsterdam.
  • For the follow-up work for those who attended the Christmas outreach event.
  • That Anne will be able to find a place to live as her lease will expire at the end of March.
Philip and Lorraine Taylor, Canada (Intercultural Ministries)
Starting the beginning of February, they have started to lead a number of conferences in Niagara Falls, Toronto and Winnipeg areas.  Brad, their new son-in-law was rear-ended in a car accident recently.  The doctors found a small tumour when they did the surgery to repair some of the damage from a previous concussion.  The doctors do not think that the tumour which has nothing to do with the injuries resulted from the car accident is cancerous and they took it all out.  They are thankful for how God had worked this out.
Please pray:
  • For Brad’s complete healing and recovery and for peace of heart and mind for Amy and Brad.
  • That God will use Philip and Lorraine mightily to lead many to come to Christ through the Family Life Conferences in the coming weeks.
Bill and Diane Finnemore,  Poland
They recently met with 30-40 Polish church leaders from various denominations to present a training program which they plan to begin in September 2010. The goal of this training is the development of healthy churches. Please pray that:
  • These leaders will be encouraged and motivated to bring many pastors to the training in September. When they begin training they are hoping to have 150 pastors and church planters participate in the three-year training.
  • The Polish Christian ladies in leadership will be committed to the Women’s Encounter ministry and that many of their non-Christian friends will have a personal relationship with Jesus through this ministry.
  • God’s blessing on the Marriage Encounter week-end at end of February.
Stanley and Rosa Leung, Venezuela
They praise God for the eight brothers and sisters who were baptized on December 25. They praise God also for the fruitful ministry of Pastor Stephen Lee and his wife Maria (from Scarborough Chinese Alliance Church) who came to minister from December 23-January 4. Four people prayed to accept the Lord for the first time during the Lee’s ministry and many reconfirmed their faith in God.
Please pray:
  • That these new believers will continue to grow and mature spiritually.
  • For Rosa’s Venezuelan ID.  It seems that the officers want to hold her ID for no apparent  reason.  Pray that they will be willing to release this document to her.
  • For the country of Venezuela. Also pray for the people’s spiritual awakening in the midst of uncertainty (High inflation rate, crime rate and a new exchange rate).
Anne Stephens,  Republic of Congo
She requests prayer for missionaries who are working in an Evangelical hospital in Northern Congo. They have been under a lot of stress with a civil war going on across the river. They have been looking after many people who are victims of this war. Please pray for each member of the staff and their families. The great part of all this is that some of the patients are coming to Christ because of the faithfulness of the staff’s witness. Please continue to pray for Anne’s teaching ministry at the Bible School in Brazzaville. Pray that students will learn all that God has for them and grow in their relationship with him.

David and Fam Griffiths, Thailand
They are ministering to the Mien people in Northern Thailand.  David’s ministry involves a lot of late evening driving and sometimes long-distances on extremely narrow,  winding minor roads.  They have had a couple of accidents lately being hit by motorbikes and they thank the Lord that the accidents are minor ones.   But increasingly they have seen people driving through red lights at high speed and driving on the wrong side of a divided highway!  He values our prayers for protection and safety in their travels.    They continue with some worship services in their home and the attendance ranges from 10 adults to 15 adults with 2 children.  They need wisdom as to whether they should establish their meeting as a local church.
Please pray for:
  • God’s protection and safety in their travels.
  • God’s clear guidance and wisdom whether they need to establish their meeting in their house as a local church.
  • The  Churches Leaders’ Seminar to be held on March 13-15.  David is one of the speakers on the theme of “ The Kind of church That God Requires.”
  •
Joe and Grace Chan,  Canada
They thank God for the wonderful eastern and western Canadian trips for sharing the Bible translation vision.  They thank God for keeping them safe in all kinds of weather and for a good team spirit among the six of them.  After these trips, they realized that it was the right time to start sending out a Chinese Ministries’ newsletter to all Chinese churches on a quarterly basis.
Please pray for:
  • The follow-up work after the ministry trips.
  • The renovation of the Chinese section of Wycliffe Canada website.
  • The preparation and production of ministry newsletter in electronic format.

  • Antony’s application to law school.
