Women's Ministries Prayer Items May 2010

[Current month]

Effective Prayer (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Derek & Bonnie Burnett, Thailand
  • Please pray for the political situation in Thailand. The prime minister was recently ousted, and demonstrations are being held in Chiangmai.
  • Please pray for peace and that Christ will use this upheaval to draw hearts to himself.
  • Pray that Thai Christians will have wisdom and courage to take advantage of any opportunity to share Christ’s love.
Stanley and Rosa Leung, Venezuela

Praise God that their church building is in its final stage of remodelling.  P raise God for his protection and ministry through the short-term ministry team from Scarborough Chinese Alliance Church. They had opportunity to present the gospel during outreach programs on the island where many people heard it for the first time. The team was instrumental in ministering to the congregation in Valencia, especially to a number of families who were experiencing physical illness.

  •  Pray God’s Word will yield its fruit in due time.
  • Please pray that this project will finish well and that this building will be used for God’s glory and honour.
  • Pray that God will provide someone to take over the leadership of the church while Stanley and Rosa are away on home assignment for one year, beginning this July.
Bill and Ilana Lobbezoo , Cambodia
  • Please pray for students and their leaders as they settle into their new residence location. Pray they will soon feel settled in and at peace in their home in Phnom Penh.
  • Pray also for groups and individuals who are considering traveling to Cambodia this summer to participate in English Camp ministries.
  • Pray for God’s leading and preparation within the hearts of those who register. Pray for timely encounters with young people whose hearts God is preparing to meet.
Anne Stephens, Republic of the Congo
Anne had a great time at Assembly and is now in Canada to visit her 23 cluster churches.
  • Pray that she will have opportunity to share her ministry with many people, for safety as she drives to see her churches and for good health and strength.
Bill and Diane Finnemore, Poland
Bill and Diane have had many good talks during the last few days with friends and acquaintances.
  • Pray for the people of Poland who are grieving the loss the 96 people who died in the airplane crash including the President and the First Lady.
  • Bill had an opportunity to pray with a young man who came to repair their printer, and who ended up sharing a very real felt need. Bill and Diane gave him the Purpose Driven Life in Polish and an electronic Bible and encouraged him to read Psalm 139.
  • Please pray for the upcoming Women’s Encounters this spring. Pray that many ladies will attend, and that many will come to know Christ as their Saviour and Lord.
Mary McElhone, Indonesia

Mary has completed her language study in Bandung and is awaiting the necessary papers from her sponsor, which will allow her to apply for a new visa to return to Hitadipa in Papua.

  • Please pray for a quick completion of Mary McElhone’s visa application.

Joe and Grace Chan, Calgary
Praise for a new volunteer to help out on administration and event coordination at Wycliffe.  Praise the Lord for allowing them to be part of His plan in His leading of four people to Christ.
  • Please pray for Antony and Edwin for their coming examinations, and Antony’s summer job search.
  • Pray for the renovation of our broken backyard fence which was damaged by strong winds.
  • Pray for a good finishing of the Chinese section of Wycliffe Canada web site. Pray for their preparation of assignment for the leader development course in Langley from May 23-28.
Daniel and Dominica Lai, Kenya
  • Pray for their children's studies:  Nathaniel continues his 2nd year study at UNSW (major in Mechanical Engineering). Hannah defers the acceptance of offer and will study Digital Media at UNSW in 2011.  Pray for her gap year as she plans to return to Kenya to help an orphanage from June - Aug 2010.  Please let them know if you want to partner with her as her prayer partner and/or financial partner to help with her trip expenses as well as some donation to the orphanages.
  • Pray for an effective Missionary Pre-field Training Camp in San Francisco in July 2010.
  • Pray for Daniel as he is teaming up a Regional Council for Great Commission Center International in Australia in the near future, as well as mobilizing the prayer net and perspective course in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland in Aug - Oct 2010.
  • Pray for Dominica's time caring for her 84-year-old mother who needs dialysis at home every day. Her mother's health is weaker each day. She is requesting her relatives in China to apply passports and visa to travel to Sydney to see her in May 2010.
Anne Louie, Netherlands
Praise the Lord!  The evangelistic meeting from Gambling Rehab Centre went very well in March 29 despite many of the difficulties faced before the meeting.  There had around 100 people to attend and 2 men and 1 woman are converted to Christ Jesus.  After spending 8 months, Anne passed driving exam last Thursday and will have Dutch driving licence this week, and she felt that God used the process to develop the character of discipline, endurance and faith in her life.
