Women's Ministries Prayer Items June 2010

[Current month]

Effective Prayer (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Joseph & Helen Lee, Guatemala
Thousands across the region are homeless after the strike of Tropical Storm Agatha. Joseph and Helen Lee praise God that they and their church people are fine. Their sanctuary however, has been flooded.
  • Please pray for Guatemala and its people, especially the poor people who live close to the volcano, on the hillsides (where there have been landslides from the rain) and near the swelling rivers.
  • Please pray for the upcoming Latin America Chinese Alliance Missionaries’ Field Forum to be held in Panama, Jul 5-10.
  • Pray for Dave Peters who will be leading this forum. Pray for God’s anointing on Doug Wiebe who will be speaking, and for Judy Wiebe (Director of Alliance Care) who is attending.
  • Pray for a time of spiritual refreshing and renewal for all in attendance.
Bill and Diane Finnemore, Poland
Bill and Diane praise God that four women committed their hearts to the Lord as a result of the recent Women’s Encounters at two churches, and over 70 women recommitted their lives to the Lord. Praise God that the speakers did a great job sharing their testimonies and all were blessed as a result.
  • Pray these women will continue to grow in the faith.
  • Pray for Bill as he ministers at the annual biker rally where the Christian bikers will have a coffee tent set up. They hope to talk to seekers throughout this weekend.
  • Pray the power of God will be manifest there and for the Holy Spirit’s protection over Bill and his teammates, giving them wisdom and love for the other bikers.
Mary McElhone, Indonesia
Mary remains in Bandung studying language until her necessary papers arrive so that she can return to Hitadipa.
  • Please continue to pray that Mary will soon receive her visa. Pray that her papers will arrive before her 30-day visitor’s visa expires.
Lois Belsey, Indonesia
Lois reports that the people of Hitadipa where praising God on Sunday (May 30) for the final resolution to all the fighting.
  • Pray for complete healing from malaria symptoms and fresh energy
  • Please continue to pray that the fighting will stop and that this will be the end of the war.
  • Pray for Lois Belsey as she travels this week to Nabire, Biak and Bali to prepare for the short-term ministry team coming this summer.
  • Pray that Lois will be able to renew her visa while she is in Biak.
Anne Louie, Netherlands
Anne has recently started a second Bible study group with four individuals who are living in different areas. In order to overcome this geographical problem, they use Skype to study the Basic Christianity course.
  • Pray for their spiritual growth throughout this study.
  • Pray also for the many people who have lost their jobs due to the global economic recession. Please pray for those within the church who are affected by job loss or working extended hours each day. Pray for their faith and perseverance during this unstable economic situation.
  • Pray for the shortage of Global Advance Funds.
Derek & Bonnie Burnett, Thailand
Derek and Bonnie attended the first forum for discussing lay-leadership training in Thailand to learn from other organizations with training programs.
  • Pray that Executive Board members of Saw Saw Paw will catch the vision of making this a self-supporting ministry that can be left in the hands of the Thai.
  • Continue to pray for a peaceful resolution to the problems that are dividing the nation of Thailand. Also, pray God’s people will be peacemakers in their communities and that many will come to know Jesus during these trying times.
Bill and Ilana Lobbezoo , Cambodia
  • Pray for Bill and Ilana as they “wrap up” their ministry and work responsibilities in preparation for home assignment. They are gearing up for a summer of English Camp ministry that will continue in their absence.
  • They are also renewing contracts with dorm leaders and they ask for prayer that the dorms will be filled for the coming school year.
  • They will be returning to Canada for a year. Please send all future e-mails to lobbezoos @ gmail.com.
Anne Stephens, Republic of the Congo

Anne‘s teammate, Vicki Murdock (U.S. international worker) had returned to the U.S. for an emergency medical problem. Vicki has been diagnosed with aplastic anemia which means that her bone marrow is no longer effectively producing blood cells.

  • Please pray for the healing of Vicki and her brother who is her bone marrow donor for bone marrow transplant.

Phil and Lorraine Taylor, Canada
Phil and Lorry share about the secret of their successful marriage - They pray together every day. They believe this is more than anything else in our marriage. They are not only staying together for these 32+ years, but their marriage is thriving and they love one another and delight in.

Daniel and Dominica Lai, Kenya
Their younger daughter, Hannah, is returning to Kenya on her own to minister at three orphanages. She will stay there until 19 Aug. Dominica is blessed to try on an advanced pair of hearing aids prescribed by a Christian audiologist in HK at a discounted price. It is greatly enhancing her communication skills for ministry.
  • Please pray for travel mercy, safety, good health & harmonious relationship with the orphans.
  • Please pray for good preparation and creative presentation. www.gcciusa.org for Daniel & Dominica as they will speak at some workshops of the missionary pre-field training in San Francisco from 5-9 Jul.
  • Please pray for the health of Daniel's father in HK. He has blood in his urine occasionally and was hospitalized for a couple of times.
  • Dominica's mother in Sydney is still having dialysis at home every day. In light of this, they are applying with Wycliffe Australia to extend their home assignment for one or two years.
  • Please pray for Nathaniel’s concentration in study in Sydney.
