Women's Ministries Prayer Items September 2010

[Current month]

Effective Prayer (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Joe and Grace Chan, Canada

They praised God for a profitable and unforgettable learning experience with other Wycliffe leaders about servant leadership in June in Langley, B.C.  While in Vancouver they praised God that they led a couple to Christ.   Please pray:

  1. For Antony who is looking for a place to stay for his coming school year in London, Ontario.
  2. For God’s provision of their financial needs.
  3. For the implementation of servant empowered leadership model in Chinese Ministries.

Lois Belsey and Mary McElhorne, Indonesia

They report the short-term ministry team from the Central Canadian District had a wonderful time on their ministry trip. The outreach went very well. They held children’s services and all of the adults came as well because they didn’t want to miss anything. They showed Christian movies at night and about 200 people attended each evening. Pray that God will continue to work in their hearts and draw them to himself.

Bill and Diane Finnemore, Poland
  1. They request prayer for those who will be sharing their testimonies at two upcoming Women  Encounters this fall.
  2. Pray for them as they meet with significant leaders to plan a Leadership retreat for Marriage encounter.
    3.   Pray for God’s provision for a job for Bozena, the co-cordinator for Women’s encounter, she has been without work for a while.

Derek and Bonnie Burnett, Thailand

They received the news that their teammates, Larry and Nancy, will not be returning to Thailand in the foreseeable future.  They are so sad - both because they will miss their dear friends, and because they need them in Saw Saw Paw (lay leaders training and discipleship)!  This is really too much for Derek to carry, and they need wisdom & provision from God  for what to do next.   Please pray:

  1. For the future of Saw Saw Paw; they are not sure what the Lord will have them do next but they are trusting that He has a good plan.  Please pray for peace as they wait for His leading.
  2. For their 3 children – that they will love righteousness and find their confidence in the Lord.
  3. For Bonnie, that she will be filled with patience and serve others with all her heart.
  4. For safety and protection as Derek has to travel frequently to different parts of Thailand to train lay leaders.

John and Lorraine Young, Spain

They held their first three-day retreat at the end of July.  It was heartwarming to see a few families willing to shut their businesses over the week-end to attend.  They praised God that there were 6 people baptised at the retreat and their testimonies were very uplifting and they brought glory to God.  Please pray:

  1. For these new believers that they will continue to grow in Christ.
  2. For wisdom and boldness to witness to a group of Chinese immigrants (mainly Chinese scholars) who have not been reached before.
  3. For guidance and wisdom to start a next-generation ministry as there is a real need for this.

David and Fam Griffiths, Thailand

David has recently been teaching English as a volunteer at his adopted daughters’ high school and there have been good opportunities to share the gospel with the teachers.  Please pray:

  1. That God will use David to bring God’s love and the gospel to the teaching staff at the high school.
  2. That God will grant David safe trips as he travels from village to village preaching to the tribal villagers.
  3. That God will continue to grant good health to David and Fam.
